Maurizio’s practice is about helping organizations face their most critical, systemic, adaptive challenges. He designs and facilitates collaborative experiences to help his clients achieve two objectives: co-designing interventions with an experimental mindset, and building the individual and collective capacity for a different kind of leadership.

An important part of the work he does with his team consists in creating a new space for people to work together and evolve the way they approach complex problems. Each space represents a unique combination of physical, virtual, and social architectures. The combination of these architectures creates the context for a different kind of dialogue, at different levels: collective and individual; philosophical and strategic; intellectual and emotional. It also creates the structure for the emergence of innovation: not just in the outcome of the work, but also in the way of working.

His practice unfolds in two roles: as a consultant and as a member of faculty teams.

In 2003, Maurizio founded his consulting practice Architects Of Group Genius. With his team, he has worked on five continents, in thirty countries, for over three hundred missions. His clients include: Young Presidents' Organization (YPO); Renault; VINCI Group; United Nations; The World Bank; Federal Reserve Bank of New York; SEAT; Feeding America; JEEP; Open Society Foundations; Telia; Kerns Group Architects; Fondazione CRT; EDU-Empresa de Desarrollo Urbano, Medellín; Barclays; AUDI; Cementir Holding; Independent Sector; Operation Hope; Art Basel; Lavazza; Unilever; OECD; TESCO; Massachusetts General Hospital; Shepley Bulfinch Architects; United Arab Emirates Minister of Education; The Jewish Agency For Israel; Volkswagen; Ferrero; Acumen; Media Development Investment Fund; General Electric; Bridgespan Group; Alfa Romeo; Harvard Business School; Fiat Chrysler Automobiles; Unicredit; World Economic Forum.

Maurizio conceives, designs, produces and facilitates new programs for academic institutions: the Harvard University Graduate School of Design (‘Leadership and Design Thinking’, 2015-2017); the Harvard Business School (‘Leading and Building a Culture of Innovation’, 2017-2020, with Prof. Linda Hill); the École des Ponts Business School (‘Executive Doctorate of Business Administration Program’, 2015-2020), the Adaptive Leadership Network (‘e-volve. Mastery in Design, Teaching and Facilitation of Leadership Development Experiences in Virtual and Hybrid Environments’, 2021, with Prof. Ron Heifetz). These programs are mostly dedicated to supporting people in expanding their capacity to lead.

In 2016, Maurizio was invited by the World Economic Forum to the Davos Annual Meeting as a Forum Fellow to speak about ‘Leading for Innovation’. He is the co-author of the article ‘Unlocking the Slices of Genius in Your Organization’, part of the HBS Centennial publication Handbook of Leadership Theory and Practice.
